ST. PAUL—The University of Northwestern women's track and field traveled down Snelling Avenue without their male teammates to Hamline University's female-only Women's Twilight on Wednesday. The Eagles put up some strong finishes against tough out-of-conference competition.

Amber Doebler (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo) jumped to her longest distance of the outdoor season in the long jump with a final mark of 4.71 meters (15.5 feet). Doebler is currently ranked sixth in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) performance rankings for the event. Doebler then anchored the 4 x 100 meter relay, helping the team consisting of
Jocelyn Moses (Wausau, Wis./East ),
Sarah Couwenhoven (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Fridley), and
Jordan Skarin (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo ) earn fifth place with a time of 53.49 seconds. Doebler was also part of the fourth-place 4 x 400 team with
Whitney Klassen (Mountain Lake, Minn./Mountain Lake Christian),
Danica White (Maplewood, Minn./Concordia Academy), and Skarin (4:26.86).
Klassen participated in the 1500 meter run for the first time this season and was the 13th runner across the line out of 40 competitors. Freshman
Sarah Nisley (Pine City, Minn./Pine City) set a new personal record again this week, this time in the discus with a throw of 21.67 meters (71 feet).
This Saturday, the UMAC women's squad will join back up with the men and head an hour south of the Twin Cities to Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn. for the Drake Alternative meet.
